About

Founded in 1961, Summit Machine Works began as a family owned business in a small machine shop on Summit Avenue in Beloit, Old Summit FacilityWI.

Original owners James Hamilton and William Younger opened the 3,000 square foot shop and began servicing the paper making and automotive industries.

They named the company Summit to reflect the “Peak of Excellence” which was and still is the philosophy behind Summit Machine Works.
After only a few years, the company was moved to a 12,000 square foot building to accommodate the growing business. Summit Machine Works prospered over the years machining parts for the paper, food, automotive, and hydraulic industries.

In 1980, the company’s first CNC machining center was acquired, allowing Summit Machine Works to remain competitive and exceed customers’ quality expectations.

In 1987, after 18 years of shop experience, Jim Hamilton (James’ son) purchased the company to continue the family legacy.

Under Jim’s leadership and the team’s dedication, Summit Machine Works was able to relocate to an incredible 30,000 square foot facility in 1995.

This new manufacturing facility was built on Kennedy Drive in Beloit’s Industrial Park ,and now serves as an excellent base to support the still-growing business while serving the machining needs of our valued customers.
